ESB Consultancy is pleased to announce that ESBPCS for VCL v4.5 is now available to registered users.
If you have trouble getting to the Registered Users Site, email me for the latest details...
This release includes a MAJOR update to the Help System, which has allowed
HELP2 support for BDS3, BDS4 and BDS5 IDEs.
There has also been heaps of minor improvements and fixes - so best to check out the What's New File :)
You MAY however want to wait for the ESBPCS v5 release (which will be in a few weeks time) as that will also be a free upgrade.
With ESBPCS v5 will only be supporting Delphi 7 and above (and associated
C++ Builder). So we wanted to get v4.5 out for those still using Delphi
C++ 5, Delphi 6, BCB 5 and/or BCB 6.
Delphi 2009 and C++ Builder 2009 support will be included in ESBPCS v5, with the appropriate Unicode support :)
Also ESBPCS v5 will no longer maintain the deprecated features for ESBPCS v2 support and earlier - this has been an option in the install and it won't be there anymore. So anyone who has been using ESBPCS in their projects for a long time, may want to ensure that they are using ColorSets and UICtrls rather than the old "direct" Colour and Effect Properties. Given our "slow" phase out I doubt this will affect many people.
For ESBPCS v5 we will not be bundling JPM Components but integrating components based on them more completely into the Base Packages. So you may need to change to using TESBColorComboBox, TESBFontComboBox, TESBColorListBox and TESBFontListBox when ESBPCS v5 comes out. We will make JPM available on our Website for those who wish to continue using it.
