reuse of other user dictionary files

Greetings,

I'm studying in the medical field and have built over the past few years quite an extensive user dictionary file as part of a Wp package.  This is accessible as plain text.

I've also recently purchased a mind mapping software (MindGenius) that deploys the Addict spellchecker.  I have two questions that I don't seem to be able to find the answer to from their user docs or around the web etc.

1. How can I import my existing user dictionary. (I really don't want to re-invent the wheel here)

2. How can I check/amend/delete the format of spelling e.g. capitalisations that have already been put in the .adu file?

Kind Regards,

Dave

RE: reuse of other user dictionary files
Dave,

The Addict PlusPack contains the Addict Dictionary Compiler which allows you to create your own Addict Main Dictionaries from Plain Text File(s).

Editing User/Custom Dictionaries (.adu) is available at runtime if the setup options has the Dictionary button - otherwise, once again the Addict PlusPack supplies a Custom Dictionary Editor that can also be used for this.

You mentioned a product the uses Addict - please note that our customers don't pay us royalties, etc - so we can offer very little support to customers of our customers. Addict is highly configurable and we have no control over how our customers decide to implement things - so normally enquiries are better directed at the Application developer(s).

Re: RE: reuse of other user dictionary files

Thanks for the information.

I did try the 3rd party vendor, but their suppport sadley didn't have an answer for me other than adding the words manually.  Not practical with thousands of entries gathered over 4 years of medicine.

Anyhow, thanks again.

Dave

Re: RE: reuse of other user dictionary files

Thanks again,

I've successfully imported my existing user dictionary and is makes life so much easier.

One small point though, I realise you have no control over how your controls are implemented, but it's a bit disappointing to have to pay for a "PlusPack" just so the user can fix the functionality of a 3rd party software.  If you have any 'recommendations. to your users could it please include for the future the ability to properly customise check edit etc the user dictionary.

In my mind, if you offer the user a spell check facility that allow to compile a user dictionary (and who wouldn’t these days) then, the min functionality should allow said user control over their own creation.

But, anyhow thanks again for your suggestion, it works well.

Kind Regards
