Provide name for *.adu and *.adl ?
Hi there,

Two quick questions :)

1. Is there a way to provide the name for the .adu and .adl files?

Right now it is taking the user's LAN id/name, but I would like to specify the name so that if I run my app from my main workstation or from my development machine, it will be able to find/use the correct user files.

2. Maybe even better... is there a way to capture this data and stream it to/from my database? That way I can save my user dicts in my db and no matter where they login from, and no matter wich system they are use (Order entry system or Human Resource system) I could provide the data stream from my database and save it back to my database...

Hopefully you can understand what I am trying to do here... my coffee was gong long ago, and most of my brain-power!! ;-)

Thanks,
-Raymond
RE: Provide name for *.adu and *.adl ?
Raymond,

1. Yes the names for these files are fully configurable through designtime properties (and of course at runtime by the user) - have a look at the ConfigDefaultActiveCustom and ConfigID Properties for the .adu, and the SuggestionsLearningDict for the the .adl.

You can find out more about these in the help file - might be worth going over all the various Configxxx properties as we do try and offer a lot of flexibility :)

2. We don't offer a stream option since the speed of the Custom Dictionaries and the Main Dictionaries is derived from their physical structures.

We do have some customers who save Dictionaries (both sorts) in databases, but they retrieve the dictionaries at the start of the program from the database, and stored changed ones back at the end of the program - from what they've told us.

Thanks Glenn,

[embarrassed] I will check out the chm  for the Configxxx properties [/embarrassed]

I like your ideas for question 2 ... a little more work than I wanted :) but I think that I can work with that.

Can you add the ability to stream in/out the dicts, etc to your someday/maybe list please :)

Thanks again,
-Raymond

Raymond, we have had a couple of other customers ask for this over the past few years, so it is on our "wish list" but I can't promise anything.

I'll look forward for the streaming functionality too.
